Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne introduced up-and-upcoming guitar hero Randy Rhoads to the world in his Blizzard of Ozz band of 1980. Their first album launched a new era of hard rock for the Eighties and yielded a motherlode of metal masterpieces including the controversial “Suicide Solution.” Though the landmark album version remained an Ozzy favorite the group upped the ante in concert with an ambitious extended arrangement, released on 1987’s Tribute. “Suicide Solution” (Live) became Randy’s feature spot on stage and arguably contained his most impressive and ostentatious guitar work, including a lengthy unaccompanied metal solo woven into the already riff-heavy tune. A must-know for all aspiring guitar heroes.
