“Kid Charlemagne” Originally recorded by Steely Dan | |||
Steely Dan’s imaginative and unique blend of funk, jazz, rock, blues and pop was at the forefront of this leading track from the influential Royal Scam album of 1976. The compositional prowess of Steely’s Becker and Fagin and the participation of countless studio luminaries notwithstanding, “Kid Charlemagne” was a stellar outing for ace guitarist Larry Carlton. The song was enlivened by and will always be remembered for Mr. 335’s sophisticated blues-based guitar work. So much so that is was ranked No. 80 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Songs. |
